ABOUT US
From our humble beginnings in 1949 as a maker of gauge needles for measuring instruments, Kono Seisakusho has evolved into a world-class manufacturer, whose CROWNJUN Nylon Sutures for Microsurgery are sought after the world over.
In 1974, CROWNJUN was Japan's first domestically manufactured suture with needle for Microsurgery. But our desire to provide surgeons and patients everywhere with the most extensive line of microsurgical sutures spurred on further development.
Over the next several decades, Kono Seisakusho would go on to develop inhouse technology combined with traditional Japanese arts that would allow for the manufacturing of even smaller suture needles, culminating in the creation of the world's smallest suture needle (at 30 micrometers in diameter) in 2004.
In 2009, Kono Seisakusho received the Prime Minister's Grand Prize Award (presented by then Prime Minister Taro Aso) for supporting Japan's industrial "monozukuri"--the Japanese spirit of innovation, manufacturing technology, and the pursuit of perfection. The following year, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, Akihito (currently serving as Emperor Emeritus), honored Kono Seisakusho with a visit to our head factory to see in person our acclaimed manufacturing capability.
Currently led by fourth-generation president, Junichi Kono, Kono Seisakusho remains committed to providing surgeons and patients everywhere with the highest quality, made-in-Japan sutures for Microsurgery.
